TRIBECA AOYAMA - CURIOSITY / GWENAEL NICOLAS

PROJECT:    Tribeca Aoyama
DESIGN:       Curiosity / Gwenael Nicolas
LOCATION:  Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan
DATE:            2007
PHOTO:        Curiosity / Gwenael Nicolas

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
When it's not enough to just go to a unisex hair salon, the well-coiffered men in Tokyo head to Tribeca Aoyama, a hair salon that caters to men only.  Gwenael Nicolas of Curiosity designed this men's salon with a minimal palette of materials that includes natural oak and polished black granite to create a serious, yet sensuous atmosphere.  The design is very crisp and well-defined, with each material either anchoring a space or bordering it.  The minimal choice of materials and color exemplifies the restraint of the designer and the
the exceptional craftsmanship that is native to Japan.
